What does the Advanced Open Water course consist of?
The PADI Advanced Open Water course is designed for you to continue to improve your diving skills, gain experience and discover new ways to enjoy the sea. During this course you will complete five specialty dives, each focused on expanding your knowledge and confidence underwater.
Two of these dives are mandatory: underwater navigation and deep diving. The other three you can choose from different options according to your interests, such as night diving, buoyancy control, search and recovery or underwater naturalist.
PADI Theory
The theory of the course is done online through the official PADI platform, so you can learn at your own pace and from anywhere. Before each dive, we will review with you the necessary procedures and techniques to make the most of each experience.
Open water dives
During the Advanced Open Water course you will make a total of five dives in the sea, accompanied by a PADI instructor. Each dive will help you perfect your buoyancy, improve your orientation and learn new techniques to dive safely and confidently.

The PADI online training material or the physical Advanced Open Water Diver manual.
Dives
5 dives in the sea guided by PADI Instructors
Diving equipment
Includes the rental of all equipment necessary for the course. In case of damage or loss of the equipment, the corresponding cost will be charged.
Insurance
Diving insurance is included during the 5 dives of the course.
Certification
At the end of the course you will obtain your internationally recognized PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
Is it worth taking the Advanced Open Water course?
If you already have your Open Water certification, it is worth doing the Advanced Open Water. This course allows you to explore new diving modalities, increase your level of autonomy and access deeper dives (up to 30 m).
In addition, by completing the PADI Advanced Open Water course, you will improve your technique, gain underwater safety and open the door to future certifications such as Rescue Diver or Divemaster. It’s the natural step for every diver who wants to continue learning and enjoy the ocean with more freedom.
When to do the Advanced Open Water?
The best time to do the Advanced Open Water is right after your Open Water course, when you still have some basic practice and want to continue progressing. You can also do it later, if you have been diving for a while and want to deepen your knowledge or prepare for more technical and challenging dives.

Requirements
In order to take the PADI Advanced Open Water course
you must meet the following requirements:
- Open Water Diver, 1 star CMAS/FEDAS or equivalent.
- No cardiorespiratory problems or serious health problems.
- Be at least 12 years old.
- No persistent ear problems.
- Not be pregnant.
Achievements
Upon completion of the Advanced Open Water course, you’ll earn the official PADI certification, which allows you to dive to a depth of 30 meters. You’ll gain confidence, expand your skills and be able to participate in more technical and exciting dives around the world.
You will also have fulfilled one of the requirements necessary to continue your training with the PADI Rescue Diver course or to advance to the professional Divemaster level.
